Mike Hauck graduated from high school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota before moving on to obtain his business degree at the University of South Dakota in 1986. Following college, Mike attended Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota where he graduated in 1989 with the top academic performance in his class. Following law school graduation in 1989, Mike and his wife moved back to Sioux Falls where they have made their home and raised their children.
Mike spent six years practicing business law at the law firm of Davenport, Evans, Hurwitz and Smith, followed by a year of solo practice before joining with two other lawyers in 1996 to form the law firm of Quaintance, Hauck and Mullen where Mike specialized in commercial transactions and litigation. After four years with that firm, Mike was asked to start a Sioux Falls office for the Rapid City law firm of Bangs, McCullen, Butler, Foye and Simmons. Mike opened the Sioux Falls office for that firm in 2000 and continued as the manager of the Sioux Falls office through 2006 when he left to pursue a career in commercial real estate. In September of 2010, Mike began to practice law once again on a limited basis to assist his real estate clients and others in need of basic business legal services. As a solo practitioner, Mike can work with you to structure flat fee arrangements or other types of special arrangements.
During his legal career, Mike has handled cases in front of state and federal trial courts, bankruptcy courts, the South Dakota Supreme Court and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. He also has written and spoken on a number of legal topics for continuing education programs and given presentations on limited liability companies, mechanic's liens, collections and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Mike has also mediated and served as an expert witness in real estate disputes. Mike is a member of the Second Circuit Bar Association and the South Dakota Bar Association.
In addition to his work as a commercial real estate broker and attorney, Mike is active in the community as well. He serves as an Ambassador for the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce and is currently the chair of that committee. He is also a State Director serving on the Board of Directors for the Realtor Association of the Sioux Empire (RASE) as well serving as the Chairman of its Government Affairs Committee. Mike is also a member of the Board of Directors for the South Eastern Development Foundation which engages in economic development by making small business loans in South Eastern South Dakota. Mike is a member of the Sales and Marketing Executives of the Sioux Empire, Rotary South and the El Riad Shrine. Mike is also a former board member and chair of the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the Sioux Falls Area Crime Stoppers.
